The story
Felix Lecomte (1737-1817) sculpted Marie-Antoinette, then aged 28, in 1783. This sculpture is the official and most famous portrait of the Queen. Marie-Antoinette poses with her royal Fleur-de-Lys coat lined with ermine. Her tall, fashionable wig is enriched with flowers and ribbons. A piece of art as well as a testimonial of the status of trend setter that Marie-Antoinette had all over Europe.
