The Great Dürer
A masterpiece engraved in 1501,
once part of the collection of Emperor Maximilian 1st of Austria.
The story
Why not having on a wall a Masterpiece which is also a part of History?
Marie-Antoinette has selected this 1501 engraving, the largest of Dürer. Our edition has been owned by two distinguished collectors. The Baron Edmond de Rothschild had indeed acquired it in 1935 from Emperor Maximilian 1st of Austria. Cherry on the cake, another sample of this engraving was on display earlier this year at the “Treasures in black and white” exhibition at the Petit Palais, Paris.
